 * Why pay privately?

 After almost 3 decades of involvement in the Criminal Justice System, due to cuts in government funding which make Legal  Aid practice financially unsustainable it is clear that the government have engineered a system  where firms are almost  forced  to run a system of "stack them high and sell them cheap!" Where firms are forced to look at cases based on the  viability of  the fixed fees and work accordingly to maximise the work to fee ration.

 It is well reported that Legal Aid lawyers often earn less per hour than the minimum wage and therefore is it any wonder that  sometimes things are missed, that low paid paralegals and trainees are often a client's only point of contact and that  partners  of law firms only get involved when things go wrong.

 Whilst there are lots of excellent Legal Aid lawyers, doing a very difficult job for very little pay, it is the clients that suffer and  therefore we decided that in order to offer the best possible service too our clients, we could no do that under the terms of  a  Legal Aid contract as it currently stands.

 In addition, there are some legal services such as simple motoring offences and private prosecution cases that would not  qualify for assistance under the Legal Aid scheme.
